2010 Victoria Dragon Boat Festival Highlights
Eye Dotting Ceremony • Friday, 1:00pm, Ship Point
Join us to kick off the Festival as Taoist priests "awaken the dragon" in the elaborate and colourful Eye Dotting Ceremony.
Brushes are dipped in pots of red paint and the eyes of the figurehead of each Dragon Boat are dabbed in ritual to rouse their spirits.

There will be a special free movie screening of Shaolin Soccer on Friday night at 7:00pm. Superhuman martial arts, traditional shaolin monks and soccer at its best!

Victoria Children's Museum will be providing creative hands-on fun for the whole family on Saturday! And look forward to
Daisy and Farmer Vicki from Island Farms who will be making a special visit to the Forbidden City Stage on Sunday at 12:15pm.
A celebration to honour those affected by cancer. Colourful Chinese paper lanterns will be available for a donation of $2 at the BC Cancer Foundation booth on site, local Fairway Market stores, Denny's and The Bay Centre.

Each lantern comes with a tag on which you can write a message to the person you wish to honour, then you may display your lantern among thousands along the Inner Harbour for Festival weekend. Proceeds are donated to the BC Cancer Foundation. |

Historian John Adams will be giving free hour-long tours of the historic Chinatown district twice daily during on Saturday and Sunday. Highlights include Market Square, Fan Tan Alley, Chinese Temple and the Chinese Public School. Sign up at the Information Tent and come learn about the oldest Chinatown in Canada! |
Paddlers Air Band Contest and Dance Party • Gan Bei Beer Garden
This festival tradition has paddlers trying to convince our panel of judges that even though they may lack talent, they can pretend otherwise - ridiculous costumes, elaborate dance routines and hilarity ensues!
Saturday 7:00pm - 10:00pm
Teams take their rivalry from the water to the stage -battling it out to see who can perform the greatest air band!

Silk Road Tea Breast Cancer Survivors Race & Carnation Toss
Sunday 12:00pm, Inner Harbour

Join us in celebrating the strength and endurance of these courageous women. The exhilirating survivors race will be followed by the ceremonial carnation toss as a tribute to those touched by cancer. Carnations can be purchased on Sunday at the BC Cancer Foundation tent for a donation of $2. |
