2009's media launch took place in the elegant Terrace Ballroom at The Inn at Laurel Point, marking the 15th anniversary for the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival. The Festival Society and staff joined sponsors, community partners, and charity of choice,The BC Cancer Foundation, in celebrating this year's kick-off.
CHEK NEWS host and producer, Dana Hutchings, emceed the event, and speaking was Victoria Mayor Dean Fortin, Minister Ida Chong, Dr. Julian Lum from the BC Cancer Foundation and VDBF Chair, Daniela Cubelic.
Canada Dry was announced as the Festival's 2009 Title Sponsor, and Fairway Market and TELUS, as this year's Presenting Sponsors. New artwork was also unveiled by graphic designer, George Allen of Design Strategy Research.
