Race Information
General
Date: August 16th - 17th, 2008
Location: Inner Harbour, Victoria BC
Race Course: Approximately 500 metres
Boats: Fibreglass Millenium Dragon Boats
Mixed Event: The VDBF is a mixed event; there must be a minimum of 8 women
paddlers in the boat at all times.
Specialty Races: Breast Cancer Survivors' Cup, Grand Dragon Challenge, Women's Cup
Specialty Awards: Junior award
Maximum No. of Teams: A maximum of 90 teams will be accepted.
Please note: having your registration post-marked by May1st, 2008 does not guarantee your team entry. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage you to get your registration in as early as possible.

TeamWithdrawalPolicy: There will be a 15% administrative fee for all withdrawals. The final withdrawal date is July 1st, 2008. After July 1st, there will be no refunds.

Mixed Race Format/Schedule:
There will be two qualifying rounds followed by divisional semi-
finals and finals. Click here for planned race schedule.
Qualifying Rounds
For the qualifying rounds, teams will be seeded and assigned races
based on currently available results information. In these rounds
points are awarded as follows: 1st Place - 10 Points, 2nd - 7
Points, 3rd - 5 points, 4th - 3 points, 5th - 1 point.
Semi final Rounds
After the qualifying round, teams will be ranked according to total
points earned and total time(where points are tied). Each group of
10 will then comprise a division. Teams will be assigned to
divisional semi-final races based on ranking.
Finals
The first two in each semifinal and the fastest third place team
will advance to the "A" divisional final and the rest to the "B"
Final.
Special Finals - Women and Grand Dragons
Final Races will be held for the the 5 top ranked teams in the Mixed Qualifying rounds.

Awards:
A finals: Medals will be awarded for 1st to 3rd place. Ribbons for 4th & 5th
B finals: Ribbons will be awarded for 1st to 5th place.
Frequently Asked Questions:
• An adult team may have a junior on board. However a junior team may not
have an adult on board.
• Minimum. no. of paddlers in a boat is 18: 16 paddlers; 8 of the paddlers must be women plus a drummer & steersperson
• Maximum no. of paddlers in a boat is: 20 paddlers; 8 of the paddlers must be women.
