Crew
Guest Services: Assist in welcoming sponsors, and provide good view of races. Must enjoy working with the public, good at problem solving, good communication skills
Volunteer Headquarters (VHQ): Organize volunteers, deliver lunches and drinks. Must enjoy working with the public, good at problem solving, good communication skills
Info Tent: Deal with public, answer questions regarding festival, Victoria, race etc… Must enjoy working with the public, good at problem solving, knowledge of Victoria, good communications skills
Retail tent: Sell and merchandise Dragon Boat stuff. Must enjoy working with the public, good at problem solving, past retail/sales experience and ability to work with money
Children's Activity Tent: Do arts and crafts with kids. Past experience working with children and organising activities.
Food tent: Serve food, coffee, deliver lunches to volunteers. Level 1 Food Safe Certificate, good communication skills, ability to work well with public
Site Crew: Set-up and take down site- day before and day after. Physically fit, team player, able to take directions well
Security: Provide security, control traffic through site (people and cars). Physically fit, able to be assertive, good English skills, over 18, calm in stressful situations.
Party Crew: Help plan volunteer recognition party, do set-up and take down, staff the party. Team player, fun, enthusiastic, car an asset! Over 18.
Environment Crew: Keep site clean, assist with garbage, recycling, keeping toilet paper stocked. Physically fit, team player, able to take directions.
Transportation Crew: Pick up food and equipment around town for festival. Class 5 Driver's licence, clean driving record.
Stage Crew: Assist with stage set-up between performances. Physically fit, good communication skills, experience with stage productions.
Office Assistants: Assist the office staff with various tasks before and after the festival. Knowledge of computers, team player, good communication skills, organised, ability to take direction, previous office experience an asset
Race Crews
(Must know how to swim)
Dock Crew: Get crews from paddlers village and lined up in preparation for race. Help teams get in and out of boat, ensure settings are correct, pump them up. Capable at directing a large group of people, enthusiastic, good communication skills. Physically fit, able to swim, organised, good communication skills, able to multi-task.
Race Starter: Start races on time with boats evenly spaced, lined up, and pointing in right direction. Extensive knowledge of how winds and current impact race boats, previous experience working with boats in natural environment, good communication skills
Water Crew
- Race Marshals: Ensures teams follow flow pattern. Previous experience as race/water marshal required
- Race boat drivers: Drive boat where racemarshal indicates. Race boat drivers must be comfortable handling 15hp motor, precision driving required and knowledge of water conditions, must know how to swim
- Safety boat drivers: Responsible for water safety and monitors teams. Safety boat drivers must be comfortable handling 15hp motor, precision driving required and knowledge of water conditions, must know how to swim, must have current Standard First Aid and CPR
Results Tent
- Timers: Record times and placements as crews start and cross finish line. Take directions well, team player, precise
- Results coordinator: Compile results on computer, send to chief recorder. Good on computer, precise, team player, ability to give direction
- Results runner: Post results and schedule on results board. Physically fit, good communication skills
- Video recorder: Record finish line. Team player, ability to use video recording equipment
